Western Hamsters removed from the ESL Benelux Championship

To ensure an orderly and pleasant game it is essential that all players have a sportive and fair attitude. On top of that, all participants of the ESL Benelux Championship are expected to follow a code of conduct in which they agree to behave in an appropriate and respectful manner towards other participants, spectators, the press, the ESL broadcasting team and all members of the ESL Benelux Championship administration. By taking part in the competition, players and organizers become role models for the community, and should behave accordingly.

During the 6th matchweek of this tournament, serious breaches of our code of conduct, as well as the tournament’s rules have taken place. As we very strictly believe in good sportsmanship and respect towards one another, we are forced to take a stance in this situation. This has lead to the removal of Western Hamsters from the ESL Benelux Championship. In addition to that the team of Western Hamsters will not be able to participate in our upcoming ESL Benelux Championship activities for the remainder of 2016. We strongly regret that players behave in such a way, that decisions like this have to be made, however it will not have significant impact on the current rankings and the remainder of the tournament.

We do want to commend those within the ESL Benelux Championship who did so far commit to participating in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Despite this situation we do look forward to sharing a great experience with all of the participants, and above all you, the community, while we march forward toward the grand finals of the ESL Benelux Championship in the Amsterdam ArenA at the 7th and 8th of July.
