We may have only had two weeks of ESL Premiership action so far but that doesn't stop early storyline springing up! We’ve had our reigning champions dropping a surprise series, while the new kids on the block have wasted no time at all making their presence known to the other teams.
Irish Organisation and ESL Premiership first timers Cyclone have hit the ground running with a first week draw against the old guard exceL followed by a 2 - 0 victory against GLB. The matchup to watch this week has to be between MnM and Cyclone as the returning champions take on the young pretenders. MnM will be looking to bounce back from their defeat last week while Cyclone on the otherside attempt to ride this wave out and get a start on the season that most teams only dream about.
It’s not been plane sailing for the returning champs MnM, while they picked up a solid victory in week 1 against Team Paria they were humbled by a very strong XENEX side last week losing the series 2-0. The team has a wealth of experience at this level and we always have to remember, it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Truly words that will be echoing around the MnM dressing room before the next series!
My pre-split outsiders were Cyclone and Enclave, while I’m more than happy with my prediction so far XENEX may have caught some off guard with their early split dominance but a quick look back at the teams should be enough reason to have faith in this side for the remainder of the split. Facing up against GLB this week XENEX will need to keep a cool head and pile on the early pressure to every team they face going into the halfway stage.
Week 3 could prove to be crucial for a number of teams as we see many some potential season defining games, Bulldog vs Enclave and could easily push one of these 2 teams out of contention for a spot at the live grand finals.
It might be early days in the ESL Premiership but it has already become very clear that we are in for a cracking split and some awesome League of Legends action, the competition has been strong already with no team looking like running away with the title and it could be anyone's game.
