Esports for Aussie Sports Fans: Here's What's Happening This April

With the AFL, NRL, and most other major sporting codes not running during this time, there’s not much out there for traditional sports fans in the way of on-field entertainment. June 5 - ESL ANZ Champs - StarCraft II

StarCraft is one of the most die-hard esports out there. Often called the “Original” esport, StarCraft is another Real-Time-Strategy (RTS) game popularised in South Korea, where it's not uncommon to see television channels dedicated to the professional play of the game. ESL ANZ Champs - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO)

CS:GO is one of the easiest esports to watch for a beginner. Two teams of 5 kit themselves up with the latest in modern armaments, and battle it out as one team defends their ‘sites’ from the other. Much like AFL, at halftime, these teams will swap sides, and the defenders will now have a chance to attack. The mouse skills, muscle memory, and positional tactics that these players display take years to learn, but can be easily digested for anyone who’s ever played (or watched) an FPS (First-Person-Shooter) game before.
