26 of the 28 teams participating in the next season of ESL Pro League are already decided and today we are happy to announce our process for selecting the two remaining wildcard slots.
\nInstead of issuing direct invites, we have opted to involve the community, while at the same time ensuring that the selection process is not just about popularity but also competitive performance. For each region we have selected four teams, based on recent competitive results, who will be entered into a public voting for the wildcard slots. The two teams with the most votes from each region will then face off in a best of three decider match to decide who gets the slot.

\nIn the process of picking the eight teams for the voting we have taken recent success, overall team strength, the world rankings and the ESEA League system into consideration. While Virtus.pro was relegated out of the Pro League last season they are still considered one of the best teams in the world which they have proven in recent tournaments. Therefore it was only natural to give the community a chance to vote for them. If Virtus.pro aren’t among the two teams with the most votes or don’t make it through the decider match they will keep their spot in the ESEA Premier Division.
