Bolting to the Finish Line: ESL Pro League Season 6

Accomplished Brazilian sensations SK Gaming flexed on the competition emerging as the ESL Pro League Season 6 champions. The victory in Odense, Denmark saw the Brazilian core add a second ESL Pro League title to their rapidly filling trophy cabinet.

Proving themselves once more in the month of December, SK Gaming ended 2017 on a high note as the Brazilians orchestrated phenomenal teamplay, losing only two of eleven total maps at the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals. The Remnants of Success

The year of 2016 bared gold and green for the breakout Brazilians where the core of SK Gaming had won two Majors back-to-back shocking crowds. A feat only Astralis and FNATIC have achieved. While SK Gaming prolonged their successful tirade well into 2017 finding victories at IEM Sydney 2017 and ESL One Cologne 2017, FalleN commandeered the now MIBR core to a strong finish in Odense to conclude the year. The acquisition of “boltz” from the rising Brazilian side Immortals spiced the cauldron leading into the Finals, where coldzera finished the event with an MVP performance and player rating of 1.26. The Brazilian recipe bode well for the South American where coldzera was crowned the No. 1 player of the year for 2017 [].

Lurking with Intention

Cracks were beginning to surface in the Clan of FaZe as the world’s No. 2 crumbled to SK Gaming in another finals series. The year of 2017 was beyond infuriating for a roster in which was assembled for greatness. The ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals beaconed the fifth event in 2017 where SK Gaming eliminated FaZe Clan during the finals of premier events. Astralis generated brilliance, winning the Atlanta Major at the start of the year but could not maintain similar form where the Danes bombed out of the group stages at the hands of FNATIC.

North America also struggled, although OpTiC Gaming garnered a positive showing in the Quarterfinals irrespective of falling to FNATIC 2:1. South America remained authoritative of the competitive landscape, whereas Europe and North America sought the correct pieces to their respective puzzles.

The ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals confirmed a persisting curse of FaZe Clan choking in finals. The former European sovereignty of esteemed champions FNATIC and Ninjas In Pyjamas appeared distant. North America sat at a crossroad where Misfits Gaming lead by former Cloud9 IGL “seangares” drove his squad to a 3rd-4th finish.
