Bucharest Gaming Week Invitational is live and the first Semi-Final has been completed. Vega Squadron came up against Sprout, who fought hard but weren’t able to stop the “Russian sharks” from advancing to the Grand Finals.
A STRATEGICAL CHOICE
Vega Squadron made the map choice and they were definitely more prepared for this. Despite the fact that Sprout had a really good start, winning the first two rounds, Vega adapted quickly to the enemy’s playstyle, turned the table around and won 6 consecutive rounds.
Three good rounds for Sprout forced the tactical timeout for Vega since the German team was able to close the gap. However, Sprout continued their streak and took the lead for a short time.

Right after round 20, Sprout were in pure economical state, after a few devastating aces. Vega started to choke their opponents ever more, playing a more patient game, with limited aggression and isolated picks. Sprout’s choices went down to zero and eventually they were forced to throw the towel. The “Sharks” secured map 1, 16-8.
TILL LAST MAN STANDING
Dust_2 is a map that most of the players are familiar with and its common knowledge that is really difficult to retake bombsite B. Such fact is mentioned to justify the strategy that forced both teams to play around B.
Sprout had a good start, securing both the pistol and the second round. Vega returned the favor and took 5 consecutive rounds until their opponents were able to stop their streak. Despite their heavy losses in manpower and money, the German team was able to equalize the scoreline, at round 10, improve – by far - their economical state and deliver a heavy blow to their opponent’s.
Both teams were exchanging punches, with the scoreboard slightly in favor of Sprout right after Round 21. A few rounds later, Vega took a risky decision to save the money and go for a pistol round. They delivered and they managed to return 100% into the game. With four rounds remaining and the scoreboard pretty equal, tension and pressure went sky-high for both teams, especially Sprout, whose economy was pretty damaged.
Nevertheless, the German warriors were too hard to kill! They equalized the scoreline, forcing the overtime.
Sprout fought but tonyblack and the rest of Vega were furious. They won the overtime and they emerged victorious, 19-15, booking their tickets for the Grand Finals!
