Only a few months ago we were working hard on our plans for the highlight of every Swisscom Hero League season: the Grand Finals. This live capstone to every season is played out in a Swiss city, where competitors battle each other face-to-face on stage in front of a crowd for the coveted HERO title and lucrative prize money. These offline events are an important part of our league. Fans, family and friends have the opportunity to cheer on their team on site and support them emotionally. This can and has often helped a team to make an incredible comeback, let a few tears flow in disappointment, or brought esports fans together in unique moments of triumph.
Unfortunately, we in Switzerland, as in many other regions around the world, are going through a difficult historical moment which requires adaptation and adjustments from all of us. The most important thing now is that we stick to the established rules, which were set for our own protection. As esports athletes, casters, producers and gamers, we all belong to a somewhat fortunate group, especially compared to other sports. Our disciplines can still be practiced from home and an offline presence is only absolutely necessary in rare cases. This means that while the offline finals for this season cannot be held, the show can still go on!
To adhere to Swiss rules, and more importantly, to protect our community, the finals of the third Swisscom Hero League will be held online. We are doing everything we can to make this event a memorable moment and we hope you are looking forward to a day full of emotions, fun and entertainment in a class of its own. Beyond the expected fights for the HERO titles, we will show you interviews, replays and more exciting flanker content we plan to reveal soon! The SAMSUNG MVP award will be given to the best player in League of Legends again this season awarded by a jury consisting of our broadcasting talents and our ESL Admins.
So be ready for the somewhat different Esports Fest on the 2nd of May. More information will drop shortly, but you can already mark your calendars and make sure you join the Twitch stream for some of the fiercest esports action in the country, starting with:.
14:00 - Grand Final in Clash Royale
DaTsHiM vs. Jesus
15:30 - Grand Final in League Of Legends
Finalists will be announced at the end of the regular season on 24 April
19:00 - Grand Final of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Red Instinct vs. Casa De Papel
At this point, we want to send out a big THANK YOU to our production teams and our partners, who are tirelessly working for the Swisscom Hero League to make sure we deliver an event for our fans, even in this difficult moment.
