ESL SC2 Pro Tour 2023/24 - Spring Season Update & Qualification

The fourth installment of the ESL Pro Tour is underway, and the third season is almost upon us! ESL SC2 Masters Spring will as always consist of the online Regionals with the Open and Closed qualifiers leading to them, as well as the offline Finals, played at DreamHack Dallas on May 31st - June 2nd.

All four semifinalists of the ESL SC2 Masters offline Finals in Dallas will earn their slots in the new StarCraft II Championship event - Esports World Cup 2024.

The prize pool has been increased for both online Regionals and the offline Finals: Regionals will now feature a total of $150,000 across three regions (compared to $125,000 in the Summer 2023 and Winter 2023 seasons), and the offline Finals will feature $100,000 (compared to $75,000).

Here you can find the detailed schedule for the upcoming qualifiers and regional events and all the necessary information in order to be able to participate in the fourth competitive year of ESL SC2 Pro Tour.

MAPS AND BALANCE CHANGES

The Spring Masters season will feature an updated competitive mappool with five new maps developed by the TeamLiquid Map Contest participants: Dynasty, Amphion, Ghost River, Crimson Court and Post-Youth will replace Equilibrium, Radhuset Station, Solaris, Hard Lead and Hecate.

Alcyone, Goldenaura, Ocenaborn and Site Delta will remain in the competitive mappool for another season; the next mappool rotation is expected later this year.

The new ESL Pro Tour competitive mappool will become a part of ranked StarCraft II multiplayer in the upcoming game patch, which is also going to feature team mappool updates as well as the multiplayer balance changes. More details about the upcoming patch can be found on the official StarCraft II website, and the detailed breakdown of the balance changes can be found in the message from the Community Balance Council.

Registering for the LAN

Participation in the ESL Masters Spring Finals held in Dallas can be achieved through two routes:

  • One can qualify through the online Regionals and secure themselfs a paid trip and seeding into the deep stages of the competition (Winners Stage);
  • Or one can apply for the 32 slots available in the early stages of the competition (Open Stage).

To maintain the highest level of competition, the open slots will be filled by ESL Pro Tour points order. Registration will remain open to either fill the remaining open slots or have replacements available in case of drop-outs, but priority will be given to points holder. Our first deadline for all the participants to display interest in joining us in Dallas is May 5th.

The online Regionals format remains unchanged since the Winter 2023 season:

It is important to note that both qualification routes can be chosen by those interested in taking part in the offline Finals. The details for the regional competitions, including schedule, invites, and qualification slots can be found below.

Participation in any Sub-Region (e.g. in ESL SC2 Masters) is allowed for citizens of countries belonging to that Sub-Region and to players who have permanent residency in such country (i.e. being legally qualified for permanent residency in such country and having lived in such country for at least one year at the time of the first match of the competition). If a player not fulfilling these requirements can clearly prove their permanent residency in an eligible country otherwise, ESL may grant an exception. This will usually only happen in cases where the player has no other chance to take part in competitions leading into the Masters Championship.

If there can be any uncertainty about which main or sub-region a player belongs to or wants to play in, it is the responsibility of the player to come forward and explain himself as early as possible. If the player has the choice between two or more main and/or sub-regions, he can only make that choice once per competition and not change it until the next one. Especially it is not allowed to take part in two sub-regions in the same season, including their qualifiers.
