Earlier this month, we have introduced and explained the changes to the CS:GO Pro League relegation system. Today, we want to present further details about relegation, including dates, times and format.
- Date: Wednesday, December 16th, both Europe and North America.
- Time: Europe - 18:00 CET and 21:00 CET, North America - 18:00 CST and 21:00 CST
Relegation Format
All relegation matches are best of three. There is a brand new rule change regarding map choice. Maps are no longer pre-selected - relegation matches will feature map veto from now on. The team from Pro League can decide which team has to start the map selection process, all steps are alternating and will be as follows: veto, veto, pick 1st map, pick 2nd map, veto, veto, 3rd map.
Season 2 is almost at its end
Before the relegation matches on December 16th, the final week of season two of the ESL ESEA Pro League will take place, starting tonight. The fight for the finals and to remain in the Pro League will be fierce and we are looking forward to amazing matches.
Prize money distribution for Pro League unchanged
The prize money distribution for the second season of the Pro League remains the same, with the total prize money of $500,000 distributed as follows:
- $250,000 is split amongst the European and North American division as prize money based on the team's ranking at the end of the season.
- $250,000 will be up for grabs at the ESL ESEA Pro League finals.
- Additionally, the 8 teams that qualify for the ESL ESEA Pro League finals will receive full travel support which is separated from the prize money.
The European and North American division will each have $125,000 prize money based on season rankings. The distribution will be as follows:

4th Place | $13,500 |
5th Place | $13,000 |
6th Place | $11,500 |
7th Place | $10,000 |
8th Place | $8,500 |
9th Place | $7,000 |

12th Place | $2,500 |
The top four teams in each division will make their way to the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 finals in Los Angeles, USA. There they will fight it out for their share of the $250,000 prize pool. The ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 finals prize pool will be distributed as follows:
1st Place | $100,000 |
2nd Place | $60,000 |
3rd/4th Place | $25,000 |
5th/6th Place | $12,500 |
7th/8th Place | $7,500 |
