SC2 ESL Pro Tour x Esports World Cup

Esports World Cup to become the 2024 ESL SC2 Pro Tour Championship

The landscape of StarCraft II esports is evolving. After a little bit of a teaser in December, we’re finally ready to announce what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. It’s time to officially reveal that the Esports World Cup will become the 2024 ESL Pro Tour Championship! StarCraft II joins the line-up of many other world-class esports titles expected to be present at the inaugural season of the Esports World Cup this year as the product searches for the first Club World Champion.

Eighteen of the world's best StarCraft II players will clash in the exciting 5-day tournament, wrestling for the largest prize pool StarCraft has ever seen. The Esports World Cup will serve as the final event of the EPT season, culminating the entire year of competition in the global StarCraft II circuit. Only the most accomplished competitors will have the opportunity to fight for the championship title and the prestigious trophy, crowning the best player of the year.

EWC not only continues building its legacy from years prior but pushes the SC2 Championship to the next level. Last year, Riccardo "Reynor" Romiti claimed the trophy in front of an audience gathered in Riyadh and took home $150,000 - this year the Esports World Cup provides even more opportunities and support to the StarCraft II ecosystem by hosting the championship in Riyadh. The road to the Esports World Cup continues through IEM Katowice and ESL Masters Spring: both events will directly qualify four best-performing players for the Esports World Cup.

This season’s Champions are already invited to the Esports World Cup: Joona “Serral” Sotala and Clément "Clem" Desplanches will be the first players to join the main event in Riyadh after claiming victories at ESL SC2 Masters Summer and Winter.

The next set of players will qualify by reaching the semifinals of IEM Katowice 2024 and ESL SC2 Masters Spring at DreamHack Dallas 2024 or by topping their respective regional EPT standings - in case any player earns more than one slot, the competitor with the highest EPT Global Standings rank will be invited. The lineup will be complete after the last chance open qualifiers, to be held online later this Summer.
