Announcing the new Overtime Points System

ESL’s sixth season of Pro League kicks off in just four days and will see a change to the points system. In the past, a win always rewarded a team with three points whilst a loss meant zero points – regardless of the win being achieved in the overtime or within the 30 regular rounds. Starting with season six, overtime winners will receive only two points and the overtime losers will get rewarded with one point.
This change is implemented after receiving positive feedback on the suggested points system from teams and players in a meeting in Dallas at the Pro League season five finals. As outlined below in the example, the new system helps eliminate a majority of tiebreaker situations, and further adds to the league through more interesting storylines and higher incentives for teams to fight for reaching overtime. From now on, overtimes will be played with mp_maxrounds 6 and mp_startmoney 16000.
Example: Season 4 EU (reducing tiebreakers from four to one)

All of the Pro League season six matches will be streamed live over at our YouTube channel with the native English stream being broadcast at 1080p/60fps.
Season six of the ESL Pro League also counts towards the Intel® Grand Slam: a new system that awards a US$1,000,000 prize the team that has won four out of the last ten tournaments. So far, SK Gaming are in the lead with their win at the recent ESL One Cologne 2017.
We cannot wait to kick off another season of weekly world-class play and see which teams will come out on top this time! Thanks to our great partners, Intel, the City of Odense, Nvidia, Legion by Lenovo, Logitech, paysafecard, xfinity, MDL and, of course, YouTube, we will be able to once again deliver you a season of high-quality broadcast for several coming weeks.

Be sure to follow ESL CS on Twitter and Facebook for all updates, live coverage of the matches and more.
