IEM ROAD TO RIO - Update

Locations & Schedule

The qualification for Intel® Extreme Masters Road to Rio is advancing with hasty steps and soon all participating teams in the three regions will be known. Today we’re unfolding information which relates to where the three physical events will take place.

Europe

All of the 32 European teams will compete from Malta. The qualification slots for IEM Rio will be distributed as follows between Europe #1 and Europe #2:

5th - 6th in advance as Challengers
4th - 7th advance as Challengers

Americas

The Americas teams will gather in Stockholm, Sweden and compete from ESL’s studio facility. The choice of our Stockholm studios should ensure that all teams participating in the IEM Road to Rio Americas can benefit from a familiar location and avoid the significant visa application and processing delays faced by many countries, incl. the USA, which could have otherwise jeopardized their attendance.

IEM Road to Rio will be the final destination for teams in order to make the Intel® Extreme Masters Rio Major, with only 24 out of the 52 participating teams able to make it to the first South American CS:GO Major in history.
