As Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne 2025 draws closer, we’ve got an update to share regarding teams competing at the event.
Eternal Fire has withdrawn from IEM Melbourne, and will no longer be competing at the tournament. In accordance with the latest available global ranking1, G2, Astralis, FURIA were re-sent invitations after initially declining the invites that went out in February and declined.
- G2 - interested but unable to obtain visas in timeframe
- Furia and Astralis - continued to decline based on their intitial response
The next team eligible for an invite based on the rankings was Saw, who have accepted the invite and will take Eternal Fire’s slot and will compete at IEM Melbourne later this month.

1 Relevant rules:
3.2.2 Global Valve Regional Standings slots
If a team invited via the global Valve Regional Standings withdraws more than two months
prior to the event's start date, their slot will be awarded to the next highest-ranked team from
the latest available global invitation Valve Regional Standings at the time of the withdrawal.
For withdrawals occurring less than two months before the event's start date, invitations will
be extended only to teams with valid visas for the region or country in which the tournament
is taking place. Invited teams will have 24 hours to provide proof of these visas unless a valid
reason is provided to justify an extension.
